Job Description

The Civil Engineering Project Manager oversees the planning, design, and execution of commercial building projects. They coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and government agencies to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage commercial building projects from planning to completion.
  • Oversee site development, grading, drainage, utility design, and roadway access.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and local authorities.
  • Prepare and review civil engineering designs, construction documents, and permit applications.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and environmental regulations.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and resolve issues.
  • Manage project teams, including engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Communicate project updates to stakeholders and clients.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in civil engineering for non-residential and non-industrial buildings
  • PE preferred
  • Desire to learn business development or business development experience
  • Strong knowledge of site development, grading, drainage, and permitting.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, and other engineering software.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and contract management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under deadlines.
  • Desire to learn business development

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Charlotte’s local zoning and permitting processes.
  • LEED certification or experience with sustainable building practices.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management and environmental impact assessments.
