Summary:

The Director of Employee and Occupational Health Services (EOHS) has overall responsibility and key leadership role in the development coordination and oversight of occupational preventive and employee health programs across the organization. This role involves working collaboratively with the EOHS Medical Director senior management and other stake holders to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a healthy and safe work environment for over 21000 employees across multiple sites. The Director reports to the EOHS Medical Director to manage clinical operations and ensure high quality care while collaborating with senior management and regulatory agencies to integrate health initiatives that enhance employee safety and well-being.

Leadership and Program Management : Works with the EOHS Medical director to create and execute an overall strategy for the Employee and Occupational Health Services (EOHS) program including clinical care prevention programs and wellness initiatives. Work closely with the EOHS Medical Director to ensure the highest standards of occupational healthcare delivery. Develop and maintain policies procedures and protocols in compliance with state and federal regulations (OSHA CDC ADA FMLA HIPAA etc.).

Lead the total absence management program to include :

Workers Compensation : Manage and lead the workers compensation program including claims management litigation risk assessments and ensuring compliance with reporting and documentation requirements. Lead annual audits actuarial reviews and oversee financial operations related to the workers compensation program.

Leave of Absence : Manage and lead the LOA program assuring compliance with all rules and regulations.

Injury Prevention and Return-to-Work Programs : Direct and expand injury prevention and modified work programs ensuring optimal outcomes for employee health and safety. Develop preventive strategies based on workers' compensation data and other health metrics.

Wellness Programs : Lead organizational wellness programs promoting physical mental and emotional health initiatives that support employee well-being and retention.

Regulatory Compliance : Ensure adherence to local state and federal occupational health regulations including OSHA NIOSH RIWC and Joint Commission standards. Oversee compliance with the ADA FMLA HIPAA Bloodborne Pathogens standards and other regulatory requirements.

Clinical Operations : Provide oversight of clinical services at EOHS locations ensuring the highest standards of occupational healthcare delivery. Coordinate with clinical staff and external partners for seamless service provision across all sites.

Data Management and Technology Integration : Manage employee health data and ensure the integrity of data systems including electronic medical record systems and occupational health software (e.g. Epic OHS). Develop dashboards to track and report on key health metrics adjusting strategies as needed.

Budget and Financial Oversight : Responsible for developing and managing the EOHS operational budget. Lead revenue-generating opportunities through external partnerships and provider utilization.

Collaboration and Communication : Serve as the primary liaison between EOHS senior management unions and external stakeholders. Collaborate with departments such as HR Infectious Disease Control and Risk Management to ensure integrated health policies and practices.

Committee and Board Participation : Actively participate in the Infection Control Committee enterprise-wide safety councils HR policy groups and state or local advisory boards relevant to occupational and employee health.

Special Projects : Lead or contribute to special projects as assigned by senior leadership.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other information:

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

EDUCATION:

Minimum Requirements :
Completion of an accredited nursing program.

Licensure/Certification :
Must hold a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or in the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of five years experience in a large acute care health system with employee or occupational health experience preferred.

Experience in managing absence management programs to include workers compensation and leave of absence.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Oversees a team of clinical and administrative staff.
