The Editorial Assistant in the Department of Medicine facilitates manuscript development and content adaptation across academic and public platforms. This role supports faculty publication pipeline while providing valuable experience in academic publishing and content development, working10 hours per week. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist with academic manuscript preparation and formatting.
  • Support citation verification and formatting.
  • Manage editorial calendar and style guide implementation.
  • Support content adaptation for public audiences.
  • Coordinate with research and communications assistants.

Work Interactions
This position reports to a faculty member and works collaboratively with research and communications assistants. This role contributes to Georgetown University's academic publishing initiatives while maintaining organized documentation and coordinating with team members on various publication projects.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Current junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student in English, medical humanities, or related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience with academic writing and formatting
  • Excellence in attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in document management

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications
  • Prior editing or publishing experience
  • Background in medical humanities
  • Experience with manuscript preparation
  • Experience with academic style guides and citation formats
  • Knowledge of academic publishing processes
  • Familiarity with content management systems
  • Experience with style guides

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$19.20 - $28.70

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
