Under general direction of the NMMC Switchboard Lead, responsible for directing all incoming calls, welcoming and directing patients to appropriate locations, operating the giftshop, taking patient payments, and assisting with various hospital projects as needed. This position serves in a Per Diem capacity. Will have set hours with more available depending on need. Candidate needs to have evening and weekend availability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Works regular shift(s) and fills in gaps where needed.
* Serves as the welcome individual for all NMMC patients and visitors. Must maintain a high level of customer service.
* Responsible for knowing the functions of the main phone system and power failure telephone in order to professionally handle incoming calls and assist with any internal calls when asked to.
* Manages the cashbox for all NMMC Gift Shop sales.
* Takes patient account payments using various software.
* Completed either opening or closing reconciliation depending on shifts.
* Attends department staff meetings and in-services to maintain current knowledge. Stays current with department standards to assure compliance with state and federal regulations.
* Special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma.
Experience working with the public is required.
Previous customer service experience.

* General Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations and other insurance plans.
* Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to quickly assess and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
* Computer proficiency and ability to navigate different software.
