Job Title: Fitness Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Fitness and Wellness Director, the Fitness Instructor is responsible for guiding beginning and experienced exercisers through the YMCA Fitness Program. The goal of this program is to assist members in making a healthy lifestyle change and to build self-esteem. The role of the Fitness Instructor is to assist members through this process by providing personalized attention, support and motivation. The instructor will provide character development, health education and instruction that will lead to member retention and involvement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must have the ability and patience to instruct members while using effective communication and human relations skills to handle situations with people of all socioeconomic levels. Must have the ability to conduct, demonstrate and safely lead members at their personal level of ability, including proper exercise technique. Must be able to lift an equivalent of 50 pounds.
