**Job Description**
The Manager, Maritime Training and Certification Standards will be the primary contact for all Marine Training and Certification matters within the Marine department. This role acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Marine training, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., STCW, Flag State, and other governmental bodies). The Manager will strategically collaborate with CSMART to enhance and optimize training relevant to shipboard Marine positions. Key responsibilities include establishing training criteria, updating the Training Matrix, overseeing training content, and working closely with the Learning and Development and Manning Teams to ensure training compliance and effectiveness. Additionally, the Manager will liaise with global Maritime Authorities to maintain compliance with international regulations and support career advancement and performance management initiatives. This role focuses solely on setting standards and does not include training administration or scheduling.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Monitor industry and marine regulatory and standard requirements/STCW, Flag and any other external government body for updates /revisions to ensure that our marine training requirements are up to date. Establish the criteria for training and certification requirements for the entire Marine Department, including revising and updating the Training Matrix following any Regulatory, Corporate or Operating Line amendments made, and sharing it with the relevant teams in charge of scheduling trainings and manning.
+ Serve as a single point of contact (POC) for certain training requirements within marine operations. Provide internal stakeholders with expertise and counsel on matters related to training. Hold a very active role in the Marine training rationalization cross-brand working group, facilitating the internal communication between Corporate and the Operating Line.
+ Involved in the training governance processes to ensure training is aligned with the TMs career advancement and professional development. In consultation with SMEs and industry experts, ensures that industry marine training regulation requirements are accurately interpreted, communicated, and mitigated appropriately.
+ Provide oversight on the training content and work in collaboration with the Learning and Development Team, from the training governance standpoint to establish standards for monitoring and verifying training compliance and effectiveness, and the Manning Team for training schedules.
+ Strategically liaise with CSMART to optimize the training offered; they will be responsible for enhancing training relevant to Shipboard Marine positions, analyzing their effectiveness and alignment with the Operating Line requirements, as well as determining redundancies, pertinence, and consistency with the PDR framework.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Development, Administration, Training, Business Mgmt.
+ Master's Degree preferred
+ 8+ years of cruise industry experience; good knowledge of procedures, and compliance aspects
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
+ Strong understanding of data analytics
+ Experience preparing presentation materials for executive-level audiences
+ Familiarity with performance management and organizational effectiveness tools and models
+ Proven experience in managing projects and multiple stakeholders within a corporate environment
+ Ability to partner with various leadership levels and collaborate with remote employees
+ Experience independently managing a function in a corporate setting
+ Expertise in learning and development, particularly in Marine training
+ Strong skills in research and analysis of complex requirements
+ Senior-level shipboard experience with in-depth knowledge of the Maritime field
+ Demonstrated track record of success in leadership roles
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Strong organizational and management skills
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities.
Travel: Less than 25% ship-based travel
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
This position is classified as "in-office." As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida from Tuesday through Thursday. Employees may work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Some positions may require additional in-office time each week and final schedule is determined by your leader. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
