About the Role: The Marketing Proofreader is crucial for maintaining high standards of written content in the Marketing Department. They ensure that all materials, including web content, catalogs, press releases, trip itineraries, emails, blogs, and other guest-facing communications, are accurate, clear, and error-free. Success in this role requires excellent spelling and grammar skills, meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and the capability to meet tight deadlines. Backroads is in the office 4 days a week, 1-day remote: we’re in Berkeley, CA. Responsibilities: Maintain the Backroads style and brand voice across all materials. Proofread and input revisions and edits for web and catalog content in Drupal CMS, Adobe InDesign, and other platforms as needed to meet all project deadlines. Proofread miscellaneous documents including press releases and blogs as . Ensure accuracy and consistency in trip details and descriptions across all marketing materials. Provide final approval for all marketing content before publication to ensure compliance with brand standards. Work with stakeholders to maintain and update catalog pagination files throughout the catalog cycle in accordance with changes following initial buildout. Support report creation for catalog calendar builds and trip detail proofing for both initial and final proofing stages, as needed. Proof and cross-check catalog sections including trip pages, important information, and calendars. Maintain and update master lists for trip titles as needed in support of Demand Planning. Proof annual updates to Fingertip Facts and Media Fact Sheets Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. Minimum of 2-3 years of proofreading or editorial experience in a content-rich environment. Proficiency with content management systems (e.g., Drupal) and proofing tools (e.g., Creative Cloud/InDesign). Strong understanding of the Chicago Manual of Style. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Salary Ranges: $27.88 - $36.00 At Backroads, we uphold a commitment to transparency and fairness within our hiring process, particularly regarding compensation. The salary range posted for each role applies to both employment offers and employees actively working in the role. New hires are typically offered a starting salary between the minimum and midpoint of the range to ensure there is continued opportunity for salary progression during your employment at Backroads, reflecting our commitment to rewarding ongoing dedication, high performance, and significant contributions to our team. Our office roles are onsite in our Berkeley headquarters, unless specifically noted as 'available for remote'. We do allow one work-from-home day a week, as well as one work-from-anywhere week per year. This pay range is intended for in-person work in our Berkeley, CA headquarters.
