About the Role: Performs preventative/corrective maintenance and regulatory inspections on natural gas mechanical and control systems to support the safe and efficient management of KUB's Natural Gas Utility System. Duties may include operation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of various mechanical and electrical equipment utilized on natural gas utility systems including pressure reducing regulators, over pressure protection (OPP) devices, valves, odorant injection equipment, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and communication systems. Has the ability to readily detect the smell of natural gas and perform routine odorant checks across KUB's Natural Gas Utility System. Ensures that all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements are met and maintains records of compliance. Requires ability to function effectively and remain calm under emergency situations.
Qualifications Physical Requirements: Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and work where conditions are cramped, and head space is limited. Must be able to climb steps and work from ladders. Works outside most of the time, from KUB vehicle, in customer facilities, and in various weather conditions. May be required to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and work extended hours during storm or emergency situations.
Minimum Requirements: - High school education or equivalent with a minimum of (1) year of work experience in the field of mechanical preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Ability to achieve all Operator Qualifications (OQ) required to perform the duties of the job within 12 months of hire date.
- Possesses a high degree of mechanical, basic electrical, and problem-solving aptitude as well as ability to read and utilize schematics, diagrams, and operations/maintenance manuals.
- Must have working knowledge of equipment, tools, and instruments used to perform assigned tasks and other duties
- Basic PC skills (developing or working in documents in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), working in an asset management system for work order management, and navigating electronic files).
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license
Preferred Requirements: - Two + years of specialized industrial training and experience in natural gas utility maintenance and operation.
- Associate or technical degree in related field.
- Advanced knowledge of industry standard design, construction, and/or operation practices of a natural gas system.
