Maximum salary upon new hire is $64,120. Working Hours and/or Working Conditions: WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Moving switches and ups units. Racking equipment. HOURS: 40 hours per week. May be required to work occasional long and/or irregular hours. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of network hardware and software in a complex environment. Thorough understanding of telecommunications technology, equipment, and services. Strong competency in network configuration, protocols, topologies, and administration. Ability to organize, prioritize, and work both independently and within a group. Strong record keeping skills. Ability to identify support needs and to develop appropriate methods of deploying that support (classes, personal sessions, written documents, etc.). Job responsibilities require work to be performed at all office/classroom sites, necessitating inter building/campus travel. May be required to work on days and at times outside normal schedule. Must be able to demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form. Demonstrated ability to work well with others and to use time effectively. Demonstrated attitude of a service provider, and ability to foster and promote that attitude in the work habits of staff. Demonstrated ability and willingness to share information and ideas with others. Must follow documented institutional hardware and software standards. Supervision: SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Enterprise Network Director & Systems Engineer. SUPERVISION GIVEN: May supervise part-time technicians. Job Function Research, evaluate, design, implement, manage, and maintain network, communications, storage, file/application server and backup technologies. Job Responsibilities Research, evaluate, design, implement, maintain, tune and assure performance and availability of hardware and software related to network, Wi-Fi, voice, video and data communications. Provide technical leadership on networking and communications issues. Plan, test, and implement appropriate procedures and policies to ensure continued proper performance of the network and communications systems, including security related procedures and policies designed to protect from unauthorized access, tampering or physical damage. Resolve day to day technical, operational or equipment problems related to network and communications system. Perform capacity monitoring and planning. Establish and monitor required service levels and response times in consultation with College user departments. Implement network expansion or reduction. Schedule and perform network upgrades and repairs. Plan, test, and implement disaster recovery procedures. Work with vendors to establish performance standards, service levels, and evaluation of network products and vendor support. Plan and implement network maintenance and service and maintain performance and repair logs. Diagnose and resolve network problems. Provide support for installation, operation and maintenance of servers, VoIP telephones and other network related hardware and software. Oversee the management of college telephone systems utilizing Cisco Call Manager and ensure the ongoing maintenance of ACD agents and call queues. Configure hardware and software on network components. Prepare reports on network performance and repairs. Provide guidance and assistance in technical, administrative, and policy issues related to network management and network security. Support and enhance a collaborative team effort with other technical support staff to ensure consistency of network understanding and to assist with the acquisition, installation, configuration, problem diagnosis and tuning of various other systems. Develop and implement appropriate staff training. Develop and implement written and electronic guides to allow users to independently access help when they need it. Stay abreast of trends in network systems and methods to improve their use. Maintain currency/fluency/ competency in the OEM systems this position is charged to support. Perform related duties as assigned. Education High School graduate or equivalent, College level Information Systems / Computer Science coursework or OEM training in networking technologies required. OEM Certification in networking technologies preferred. Qualifications EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in the design, installation, implementation, operation, and general support of networks providing data, VoIP and video distribution. Demonstrated experience with the majority of networking hardware, software, operating systems, topologies, protocols, diagnostic tools and techniques, client hardware, and client software used at the college. Experience in direct support of network users.
