Overview:

We are currently seeking a Safety Systems Engineer to join our client's team in Pontiac, Michigan. The Safety Systems Engineer will manage assigned projects and conduct system safety analysis including fault tree creation, system hazard analysis, FMEA and FMECA generation, reliability disciplines, and failure investigations. About the Company:

Founded in 1954, our client is an American manufacturer of small gas turbine engines based in Pontiac, Michigan. It produces jet engines for cruise missiles and small jet aircraft.

What You Will Do:

  • System Safety Analysis and Planning
  • Safety Assessment Reporting
  • Fault Tree Generation
  • Conduct Functional Hazard Assessments
  • Conduct Failure Modes Effects Analysis
  • Conduct Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis
  • Facilitate adherence to our Maintainability Program Plans and Procedures
  • Evaluate software considerations for aerospace systems
  • Airborne electronic hardware evaluation
  • Employ Reliability Engineering principles

What You Need To Be Successful:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering Systems, Mechanical or Electrical) preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of experience in safety principles
  • Experience in conducting system safety analysis including fault tree creation, system hazard analysis, FMEA and FMECA generation, reliability disciplines and failure investigations
  • Knowledge and practice using MIL-STD-882, DI-SAFT-80102, and/or SAE ARP4761
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1629, DI-SESS-81495, SAE ARP5580 (SAE ARP4754) and/or ASTM F3230
  • Construction of fault analysis per SAE ARP926 or similar
  • Experience in completing Reliability Engineering principles including Markov analysis, Weibull analysis (fleet risk assessment), reliability allocations and predictions, maintainability procedures, LORA (Level of Repair Analysis), Etc.
  • Possess a working knowledge of gas turbine engines with an intermediate to advanced knowledge of turbomachinery failure modes
  • Comprehension of electro-mechanical components and Electrical and Mechanical Engineering principles
  • Ability to assess system designs for maintainability and develop work instructions
  • Knowledge of gas turbine engine hardware and associated manufacturing techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools
  • U. S. citizenship is required
  • Position may require the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. Candidates selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Compensation:

  • $120,000 - $170,000
  • Final offer of compensation to successful candidates will depend on qualifications and experience.
