Orthopedic Associates (OA) is recruiting a Surgery Scheduler to join our company. OA is a privately-owned, regional leader in comprehensive orthopedic care. Since 1985, patients have placed their trust in our specialized care of the hand and upper extremities, spine, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, foot and ankle, trauma, total joint and sports medicine. With over 30 providers, Orthopedic Associates provides patient care at multiple locations throughout the Miami Valley region. SUMMARY: Variety of tasks related to the surgery scheduling of patients

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Plans, maintains, and implements surgery scheduling and protocols for both OA and the hospitals.
  • Works closely with vendors and hospitals to make sure necessary equipment is available for surgery.
  • Schedule surgeries according to patient and provider availability.
  • Updates and reviews coding sheets for accuracy.
  • Conducts post op calls and updates notes in electronic medical records system (EMR).
  • Effectively manage high call volume while maintaining attention to detail and productivity goals.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, respect, helpfulness, and compassion at all times.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to urgent situations per protocols.
  • Effectively communicate with Medical Assistants, Providers and other co-workers.
  • Ability to make decisions independently based on materials given as guides to schedule.

Travel:

  • This position will be based out of our Vandalia location but will require travel to other offices as business needs arise.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Health care industry experience
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and the various medical specialties as required in areas of responsibility.
  • CCMA, CMA or RMA certification preferred

Work Authorization

  • Must be able to provide required documentation stating that the employee is legal to work in the United States.
