Job Description

DESCRIPTION

Do you want to create intelligent, adaptable robots with global impact? At Amazon Robotics, our team builds high-performance, real-time robotic systems that perceive, plan, and act intelligently alongside humans—at Amazon scale. Our mission is to enable robots to interact safely, efficiently, and fluently through the complex challenges of a company that sells everything, everywhere. We target high-impact algorithmic unlocks in areas such as scene and activity understanding, large-scale generative models, closed-loop control, robotic grasping and manipulation—all of which have high-value impact for our current and future fulfillment networks. Our solutions enable robots to learn from their own experiences, from each other, and from humans to build intelligence that feeds itself.

We are seeking an experienced System Development Manager to lead a team of talented engineers in developing and deploying our core motion, sensing, and safety systems. You will drive innovation by creating strong, scalable foundational technologies that support advanced robotic manipulation and industrial automation. Your leadership will be critical in ensuring the seamless development, deployment, and operation of our robotic systems across the global Amazon network. By collaborating with cross-functional teams in hardware, software, science, and operations, you will deliver reliable and high-performing solutions that scale across geographies, applications, and conditions.

You should enjoy the process of solving real-world problems that, quite frankly, haven’t been solved at scale anywhere before. Along the way, we guarantee you’ll get opportunities to be a fearless disruptor, prolific innovator, and a reputed problem solver—someone who truly enables robotics to significantly impact the lives of millions of consumers.

Key job responsibilities
- Manage and develop a team of talented system development engineers to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Develop and deploy core motion, sensing, safety, and HMI systems that enable the performance, operation, and support of our advanced robotics systems, motion platforms, and material handling automation.
- Ensure system reliability, safety, and scalability by testing and enhancing performance across diverse conditions and environments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, software, science, and operations teams to create robust cross-disciplinary systems that will be the foundation of future Amazon Robotics systems.
- Enhance user experience for operators and technicians by creating, deploying, and iterating intuitive and user-friendly systems, interfaces, and process.

A day in the life
