Job Purpose

Under general supervision, perform assigned tasks to test electronic assemblies to specifications using schematics, process sheets and required standard and/or special purpose test equipment.

The Job Title listed empowers the Incumbent with the authority to execute all duties and responsibility listed below. In the event of a conflict of authority, the Incumbent shall elevate to direct supervisor for resolution.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs production tests on units in process, basic tests on assembled units, failure analysis tests on malfunctioning product and final tests prior to product shipment.
• Detects and isolates routine faults in circuit performance and defective or malfunctioning components.
• Adjusts realigns and re-calibrates test equipment to required specifications.
• May assist in troubleshooting, repairing, and resolving technical problems on equipment or components.

Qualifications

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, qualifications, competencies, abilities and any physical demands if required.
• Physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential requirements of this job.
• Prior experience in reading and applying information from wiring lists, wiring schematics, process sheets and procedures.
• Basic soldering skills and ability to work with small hand/crimp tools.
• Basic computer skills; ability to open programs and input data.
• High school diploma or GED
• 1-5 years’ experience or equivalent on the job training experience in a testing role.
• Understanding of electrical safety.
• Ability to learn on the job training skills as it relates to various electronic test equipment.
• Basic understanding of electronic theory and ability to interpret results
• Ability to work overtime and weekends, as needed.
• Also it is a requirement that a level one test technician must achieve their "EPA 608
• Universal Certification" before moving to a level two.

Working Conditions

Mostly standing work. Continuously lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds. Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. (Lifting more than 50 lbs overhead must be performed by using mechanical aids; if mechanical aids are not available, the lift will be performed by two employees in a team lift.) Detailed work with hands; fine work and simple grasping. Position may involve bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, and kneeling with occasional crawling and twisting. Periodic travel may be involved. As needed, will work at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time.
