The City of O'Fallon, MO is looking to hire a full time Utility Worker I for our Collections Crew. Are you looking for a position where you'll build on your knowledge of water and sewer systems? Our Utility Workers earn competitive hourly rates from $ 25.22 to $ 37.84 (top of grade) with an expected starting salary of $25.22. As part of our Water and Sewer Division, you will be responsible for participating in the work of an assigned crew of personnel engaged in the maintenance and repair of the sanitary sewer collection system. Generally, your schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, but overtime hours may be required occasionally.

Responsibilities and duties include:

• Troubleshoots, operates and repairs sewer lift stations, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Assists in maintaining and repairing a variety of machinery and equipment.
• Operates a variety of machinery and equipment.
• Welds and fabricates parts and tools.
• Repairs and maintains water lines, sewer lines, valves and manholes.
• Responds to and resolves customer complaints.
• Cleans and maintains facilities buildings, lagoons, and grounds.
• Repairs streets, driveways and yards following maintenance operations.
• Cleans sewer lines.
• Assists in the inspection of new lines.
• Assists in the location of water and sewer lines
• Responds to emergency situations.
• Participates in snow removal operations.
• Performs related duties.

Requirements include:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to be on-call evenings and weekends and to work long hours outside in all types of weather conditions.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class A commercial driver's license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a Class A Collections System Operator Certification or Class III Distribution Certification
• Able to work in confined spaces, as defined by OSHA
