Security Specialist, Journeyman

Position Summary:

The Journeyman Level Security Specialist independently supports the administration of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP). This role involves performing security and administrative management of assigned SCI and SAP efforts, ensuring that all aspects of security—such as personnel, physical, operations and communications security—are thoroughly addressed. The ideal candidate demonstrates a solid understanding of security protocols and is capable of functioning autonomously while contributing to the overall security posture of sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage and support the security administration of SCI and SAP
  • Perform security and administrative management tasks related to assigned SCI and SAP
  • Evaluate and implement security measures across all aspects, including personnel security, physical security, operations security and communications security
  • Provide oversight to ensure compliance with established security policies and procedures

Education:

  • Required Degree: High School diploma or GED
  • Certification: Must obtain Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within one year of employment and maintain certification throughout employment

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of recent and relevant experience in security management or related fields

Security Clearance:

  • Minimum Requirement: TOP SECRET
