Job Description
Salary: $16-$23/hour plus bonuses
General Summary of Duties:
Responsible for contributing to all aspects of cataract surgery, from explaining Refractive Cataract surgery, to scheduling patients for surgery, to following up with them regarding post-operative appointments and medication compliance.
Supervision Received: Reports to Chief Operations Officer and Practice Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Punctuality, normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Surgery Scheduler provides an essential level of personal attention to each of our surgical patients. S/he will serve as a one-stop resource to our patients for both clinical and procedural questions.
Responsible for educating Cataract patients regarding their upgrade options for RSC and RSC+ with their procedure, if necessary after their evaluation.
Responsible for scheduling patients for surgery and assuring that all pre-and post-operative details are handled efficiently. Along with scheduling patients first post-operative appointment either back at CES or with their referring Optometrist.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions, medication explanations, and answer any surgical concerns.
Work with billing department to provide patient with expected expenses and explain the practices insurance filing policy, applicable to each patients individual insurance situation. Initiate financial arrangements for patients when necessary.
Handle post-operative, follow-up contact with patients, reinforcing compliance with post-operative appointments and medication routines and answering any post-operative questions.
E-scribing patient medications for patient as needed.
Interact with patients face-to-face and via phone, assuring their surgical needs are tended to accordingly.
Assisting in LASIK suite with surgical prep and post-op on the day of surgery.
Prep surgery days, assuring all patients on the surgery schedule are provided with correct medications, signed consents, financial obligations, post-operative appointments etc.
Performing other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer
Education : High school diploma, college degree preferred.
Experience : Previous ophthalmic office experience preferred, but at least knowledge of surgical procedures, medical terminology, insurance benefits and processing.
