Job Description

TRUCK TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR/ Dispatcher :
The dispatcher directs and coordinates the activities concerned with the dispatching of loads to carriers. The dispatcher works with the members of the sales and distribution team to increase company profitability and supplier and customer satisfaction by the efficient and cost-effective booking of trucks.


Job Duties :

• Negotiate freight rates with carriers to maximize profitability of loads.
• Develop and grow key carriers to provide additional capacity.
• Prospect and recruit new carriers to increase carrier pool of available trucks for increased capacity and service.
• Quote truck rates to traders.
• Solve shipping logistic problems as they arise.
• Investigate shipper or consignee complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility.
• Facilitate claim resolution with carrier and correspond with shipper or consignee to effect settlement.
• Book shipments to ensure compliance with interstate and intrastate traffic laws and regulations and company policies.
• Maintain carrier file to ensure "qualified carrier" status.

Job Qualifications and skills:

• Experience in freight brokerage and flatbed trucking.
• Experience booking 60+ trucks a day.
• Working knowledge of a Transportation Management System - Princeton TMX preferred.
• Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations.
• Effective time management.
• Accurate and detailed.
• Work independently with minimal direction.
• Effective listening and communication skills.
• Problem-solving and analytical ability.
• Superior organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Comfortable in demanding environment.
• Capable of following written instructions and documented procedures.
• Able to manage demanding situations with diplomacy and tact.
